Due to secrecy we are unable to confirm, or deny, that a certain individual is serving a sentence within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service.
The Swedish Prison and Probation Service do not convey inquiries to inmates or specified groups of inmates, which is also due to secrecy. (When serving a sentence in Sweden you should be able to do so without having to worry that your name or personal information are being spread to the public. Everyone who works at the Swedish Prison and Probation Service is bound to secrecy regarding the inmates.)
If you know that someone is serving a sentence within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, but do not know the location of that person, we can assist you in forwarding a letter to him/her. Write the inmates name and Swedish social security number (if known to you) on the envelope, put on a stamp, place the envelope in a larger envelope and send it to: Kriminalvården, Journalarkivet, SE-601 80 Norrköping, Sweden.
Filming, taking photographs, or recording sound within the premises of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service is not permitted. Exceptions to the rule can sometimes be made.
The Swedish Prison and Probation Service can not lend or rent clothing or other props for filming. Nor can we provide premises for filming (drama/documentaries).
